Went to the allotment today. I needed to put the netting over my peas. A new bunch? of people were over working on one of the plots. I had noticed that they had taken over one of the neglected ones and to be fair have really put in a lot of work.
Today however I noticed that their shed had sprouted a couple of flags. One the union Flag the other the stars and sripes. What the hell has this got to do with gardening? Has the Queen suddenly taken an interest in growing spuds? Is George Bush looking for a hobby? - I wouldn't have thought so he does own a ranch. Maybe I ought to ask. Current Mood: confused
Probably the most intense part of the year for all us growers. A time for getting all of those seeds and (late) potatoes in. This last weekend has been spectatularly good for getting out and working on the allotment, being dry and bright. It has been a bit windy though and I certainly need a better aim when aiming for the wheelbarrow. Current Mood: creative
Have only just discovered the joy of allotmenting (is that a word?) I am very new to it all and am on a steep learning curve. Any and all advice welcome.
